Class Discussion

      Today in class we discussed chapter 13. In this chapter Strayed fell over her backpack ,which caused her left boot to fall into a deep spot in the trees. Due to Strayed’s frustration she threw the other boot into the trees. She became very lonely ,and she longed for someone to talk to. Before she left the PCT, she visited Eddie’s Memorial Day party. When she arrived, she saw people carving names on a table that was her mother’s. She became very infuriated.

Class Discussion

     Today in class we discussed chapter 12. In this chapter Strayed faced many obstacles. While hiking she was very low on water and she felt nauseated. She felt like giving up, but she thought about her bigger goal. She got a chance to get a pair of free boots ,but it would take 5 business days for them to arrive. She wouldn’t be able to receive the boots because she is a hiker, and hikers are always on the move.

Class Discussion

    Today in class we discussed chapter 11. In my opinion chapter 11 was the most entertaining  chapter thus far. This chapter talked about Strayed meeting a reporter named Jimmy. He interviews people about the “hobo life”. He mistaken Cheryl as a hobo even though she repeatedly told him she was a hiker.He interviewed her and gave a bag of food and beer. In this chapter Cheryl contacted her ex husband and they talked for two hours. She felt that her ex-husband was more like her best friend.

Quick write

   Today in class we had a quick write. The quick write’s topic was “ I knew it was over when”.We has to talk about a time when we knew “it” was over. I wrote about surviving a shoot out. Not everyone survived, including one of my loved ones. That event has caused a lot of pain ,but it has also made me stronger.

Play Your Part

     Today in class we learned how to act out parts of a script. Each group had to create a story that, connected with the stories of every other group in the class. When we were done writing them ,we had to be the actors in our story. The acting was the best part !

Dreams

        Today in class we talked about the American Dream. Everyone in class discussed their dreams and aspirations in life.Many of my classmates were still undecided about their goals. I learned that our dreams should never get in the way of our happiness. If we are not making time for ourselves while chasing the dream, it isn’t really worth chasing..

The Long History of the Black Race

Today in class we talked about the African race. I learned the true definition of race and ethnicity. Race is your physical characteristics,but ethnicity has more to do with culture and values. I also learned more about my roots. I learned that before slavery many Africans lived in peace..

Chapter 1&2 discussion

          Today in class we discussed chapter two. Cheryl was grieving over her mother’s death. She was very rude and mean to others. She couldn’t accept the fact that her mother was gone and wasn’t coming back. Cheryl had sexual affairs with multiple men to cope with her pain and grief. Later she confessed to her husband. Her husband moved out, and Cheryl went to Portland to visit an old friend.

To Be An American

           Today in class, I learned about the true meaning of being an American. I learned that just because you are born in America, doesn’t mean you are a true American. Being American means, working where you want to work and marrying the person you want to marry. I also learned about heroes. Heroes can also be your favorite basketball player, but heroes don’t have to be from marvel. Heroes are simply people that help others.

Hiking

        Today in class I read the prologue for the book Wild by Cheryl Strayed. While reading , I learned a lot about hiking. I learned that in order to be a hiker, you must have lots of gear and equipment. I also learned that you must have special boots for hiking.

Argument

      Today in class I learned more about arguing. I learned how to not provoke the argument, but listen to what the other person has to say. I learned that when arguing with someone , you will most likely have a better outcome, if you listen to what the other person is saying.

Process of Elimination

      Today in class I learned about the process of elimination. I learned how to eliminate incorrect answer choices, and find the best answer for the question. I read a story, about a soldier that had a very rough time during war. He had to kill many people, but as time went on he regretted it.
